Engineering/German Language

I don’t know if this is explained somewhere on Columbia’s website, but I can’t find an answer, so

Can Engineering students take classes at Columbia College? And vice versa? If I went to Columbia I’d want to be an engineering major, but I’d also like to minor or double major in german and also study abroad. Are these opportunities available to SEAS students?

Thank you for any help in advance!

One way to do that would be to use the 3-2 combined plan:

[Combined Plan Programs | Bulletin | Columbia Engineering](Combined Plan Programs | Bulletin | Columbia Engineering)

There are no SEAS classes or College classes. They are open to everyone. Although some are understood to be owned by one college versus another, technically that holds no weight. You are more than welcome to take any class regardless of your school enrollment. However, you cannot double major in German in SEAS. Not only is it impossible to double major (hasn’t been one in over a decade since they changed the rules to make it more difficult to double major in APAM, and those were the ONLY double majors), there is no German major offered at the Engineering school. You may be able to minor, but I’m not sure. It’s quite easy to minor at the engineering school-- I’m personally minoring in music.
