DS is in final college list creation and I just want to ask if I am missing any good colleges out there:

stats 4.25w/3.8uw
sat 630cr/710m/690w
top 10% of class, around 7 APs

wants: great engineering school w/ great marching band experience
location: prefers east coast (new england, midatlantic) or midwest

So far on list: Pitt, Penn St., U-Michigan, Rutgers (home state) maybe Cornell.

Any others we should consider? Thanks!

Um…how about this one: [The One and Only MIT Marching Band - About the Band](<a href=“http://web.mit.edu/marching-band/www/about/about.html]The ”>The One and Only MIT Marching Band - About the Band )

;)

Wisconsin Madison, way cheaper than UM, PSU and Pitt and very good engineering (PSU level more or less) better than PITT and RU.

Band is very popular.

^^^ Before you cast your marching band lot with Wisconsin, it’d be wise to check them out on Youtube. They march in a manner defined by the “chair step.” It’s a tradition and looks very regimented, but my band geek son took one look at it and pronounced it absurd.

The University of Illinois has a great marching band and a superb engineering school.

^^^Absurd? The Michigan Marching Band, among many others, are know for their high “chair step.” It certainly looks great in front of over 110K!

Seconded on UIllinois:

It’s a solid match for your stats, great engineering school (esp. Computer Engineering), and modern marching was pretty much invented there. Also, cheaper than UMich and a few others (but watch for in/out state)

Second/Third U of Illinois and Wisconsin, also add Minnesota and took a look at other Big Ten schools.

Lehigh University.

Thanks for all the input! I’ll ck out Wisconsin and Illinois on youtube. They are pretty much big 10 style with high step right?

Yes, but the UW band plays in front of crowds. The illinois band, empty seats.

^^^Don’t forget the corn fields!

If you want to be in a real marching band (and study engineering): [FSU Marching Chiefs](<a href=“http://www.marchingchiefs.fsu.edu/]FSU ”>http://www.marchingchiefs.fsu.edu/ )

If you want to be in a real marching band and study engineering at a real good school, go to Michigan.

definitely Clemson. I know tons of people in the marching band and they all love it. Besides, our engineering program is one of the best majors here

THE Ohio State University.
