I go to a top 25 US News ranked school known for grade deflation. I currently have a 3.5 GPA but I have taken rigorous classes and I’m currently in a Senior (300 level) chemistry class. I was wondering what schools would I be competitive at? I really like CMU, UPenn, Cornell, Columbia, USC, G tech, UC Berkeley, etc.

I saw you posted threads about this again and again…I believe you will still apply even if people here say you don’t have a chance. So why do you have to post so many similar threads to ask if you can get in? Just apply and don’t worry about anything. You have taken hard courses, then this is good. Officers may pick students like you over a 4.0 community college applicants, but think about many other top-25-school applicants applying with 3.8+ GPA.

Actually I once thought of transferring, but then I gave up coz I start loving my school, and my GPA is low, so I don’t think I have a chance. So good luck :)

Your chances are slim for a few, considering that you want to go to engineering schools with abysmal acceptance rates.

UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech accept a larger percentage, but they’re also state schools, so if you’re not in-state, I don’t think your chances are that great.

With a 3.5, it’d be difficult to even get into the A&S programs at some of the schools you want to go to.

You have a shot at some schools, but I don’t think you’re a shoe-in at any.

I can tell you that you’re probably not competitive at CMU, Columbia, or Cornell right off the bat. But just apply and see what happens.

Good luck.
