Im doing my final thesis right now here in Sweden and getting my “Bachelor of Science and Engineering, Structural Enegineering” in December this year.

Before Im starting to search for jobs I want to study a semester abroad for 3 reasons;

I always wanted to study in US for a semester, and I know Im going to regret it later if I dont take this oppertunity.

I want to make myself more attracive by adding this semester abroad at a prestige university to my already Bachelor`s degree.
In the future I want to look back at my time in US and proudly say; I went to that school, and I had a great time!
By saying this I need your opinion, here`s my alternative:

Should I choose the “study abroad at BU” program at Boston University for a semester and take some classes in optional subjects.

Or should I choose the “UCLA Extension” program for a semester in “project management” and get that Certificate from UCLA Extension.

If I take the “study abroad at BU” program it`s gonna cost me 1,5k$ moore than UCLA.

I also want to have fun of course this 6 monts=)

Please help me, I need your expertise since u live in US.

Both are great schools so your decision should probably be about the location.

BU, being on the east coast, is much colder. They have a better public transportation system (subway) than us as well and is a great college town.

LA, on the other hand, has beautiful weather year round and is a huge city. You can still get everywhere by bus, and I’m willing to bet there’s a lot more to see here (Hollywood, Santa Monica, Downtown, Disneyland, beautiful beaches, etc). I don’t know about Boston, but LA has a huge nightlife as well if you want to go out. The only thing about LA is there is a lot traffic and its more polluted than Boston.

IMO, since you are from Sweden, I think you would like LA better since its a nice contrast with warmer weather. You’ll have plenty of things to do for 6 months. I’ve been going to school here for three years and I’ve had an amazing time.

You can get to NYC from Boston in about 4 hours and for as little as $10-15 by bus ($1 if you’re willing to wake up super early). There’s plenty to do in Boston, and it’s easy to get around. I personally much prefer Boston to LA, but I am more of an east coast person.

On the other hand, UCLA is more of a typical American college, with the traditional mix of academics, social scene, athletics, etc. BU is notorious for having a subdued social scene and a very urban feel. The weather is definitely very nice in LA (though a little too perfect for some), and the close proximity of the beach is pretty cool. Contrary to what many people say, it’s possible to get around LA with public transportation; it’s definitely much easier to get to, say, Santa Monica than downtown or Pasadena, though.
