Engineering Undeclared at Penn State

My son has been offered admission into class of 2024 as engineering undeclared in University Park.

He’s not sure what major he wants to pursue, as he’s considering aerospace engg, computer science, electrical engg and mechanical engg. Going in as engg undeclared gives him a while to decide. However he has a few questions about how this process works at Penn State.

  1. If he joins as engineering undeclared, and later would like to take up computer science as a major, then what would be the requirements and how competitive would the transfer be?
  2. If he joins as engineering undeclared, what are the requirements to select other major programs (e.g. Aerospace, EE, Mechanical, …) and how competitive are these transfers?
  3. If he ends up picking an engg program other than Comp. Sc. (e.g. Aerospace), then how hard would it be to also do a minor in Computer Science?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

See the link below and search the entrance to major requirements (“How to Get In”) for the majors he is interested in. I believe that as long as these requirements (courses and GPA) are met, admission to the major is automatic.
