I wish you luck at both, but would say both are reaches, meaning your chances are below 50%, based on your GPA. Swimming might get you over the hump at Mudd, but they’re a tiny DIII swimming program. It’s not like we’re talking NCAA Football or Basketball.
Toronto is a good school. If you want other options though, I’d suggest you look at a few other less competitive schools. Within Canada, it sounds like you’ve considered all the other options and Toronto is still your top choice. That’s great, because you’re in. Having that one in the bag is a big advantage. It lets you swing for the homerun. Looking for a less competitive, FAR more expensive program in the US might not make sense. It’s just important to know that most at bats are outs. You should be very prepared for that possibility. It sounds like you weren’t last year, hence the gap year.
