Engineering vs. Double Major in History/Archeology

I recently applied to Texas A&M as an academic admit and am trying to decide what would be a better major. I am torn between majoring in Engineering(possibly double major) or a double major in History and Nautical Archeology. I would like to know about courseload during school, what engineering jobs are like(aerospace and petroleum), and how much money would I make with a BA in engineering versus a PHD in History and Archeology.

You would probably make more in engineering. If money is the most important factor, then definitely engineering.
As for the courseload, it depends on your school. Doing a double major is (likely) twice the credits, but you might find them considerably easier. Engineering is a very, very hard field.

You will make more with a BS in engineering. Accreditation is important for this field so you want to make sure the school you go to has it. Jobs are generally considered more stable, and petroleum engineering is frequently listed at the top of highest paid salaries. Double majoring in any kind of engineering probably isn’t worth it and may even be advised against. You could probably find more information about it the engineering forum.

A Ph.D in either history or archaeology would usually lead to a career in academia. It depends on what you’re looking for in your future. Double majoring with 2 BAs would most likely be roughly equivalent to the same number of credit hours as engineering, depending on how many free electives you’re granted.
