Engineering

can anyone tell me about the engineering program at penn state? i have no idea what kind of engineering i want to do, and id like to study abroad if possible. is penn state known for their engineers at all?

Yes, PSU is ranked 16th overall by the USNWR, several departments are ranked in the top ten. You would not enter a specific discipline until your junior year and there are things like major nights and freshman seminars that would help you decide what area interests you. My son did a summer program in Rome as part of his architectural engineering major.

D2’s boyfriend, who’s a junior in MechE, applied for and was accepted into a semester-long engineering program in Australia for the spring semester of this year. He choose not to accept it for a couple of different reasons, but the opportunities for engineering study abroad are there. By the way, he’s gotten a paid internship every summer so far, with multiple options (in-state as well as out-of-state) to choose from each summer. Yes, PSU’s engineering program is fairly well known.
