<p>Which universities (besides the Ivy Leagues) have the best English and social science programs for undergraduate education?</p>
<p>Information about the UCs and other California colleges with regards to this question would also be appreciated!</p>
<p>For English and social sciences I prefer smaller schools. Outside the Ivy League there are dozens of schools with great programs in both areas, some of which are better than Ivy League programs.</p>
<p>In Cali for English I’d opt for Pomona, Scripps and Occidental plus Berkeley, UCLA and UC Irvine. For social sciences, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Occidental and Pitzer, plus Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Riverside (political science) and UC Santa Cruz (psychology).</p>
