Alright I need to turn in an essay tomorrow on a timed writing propmt. If i do good, I could bring my grade from a C to a B. I really need help, and i will love you forever / give u free sat practice tests, whatever.

Lord Chesterfield is trying to tell the boy to do well in what he does. He says “to know a little of anything, gives neither satisfaction nor credit; but often brings disgrace or ridicule.”

So I think in this case he would be suggesting that the boy concentrate and do well in something he plans on doing, rather than just carelessly glancing at it/not paying much attention to it.

The prompt wants to know how his rhetorical strategies reveals his own values. Firstly, you have to figure out what Lord Chesterfield’s values are. From there you could probably easily identify all the rhetorical strategies he uses and how they relate to what he personally believes in, etc. etc.
