From 2008 FRQ Form B:

In some works of literature, childhood and adolescence are portrayed as times graced by innocence and a sense
of wonder; in other works, they are depicted as times of tribulation and terror. Focusing on a single novel or play,
explain how its representation of childhood or adolescence shapes the meaning of the work as a whole.

Is it possible to use ophelia from hamlet, for this prompt? Or, is that too much of a stretch?

how about romeo and juliet? that would fit perfectly. both are young (14 i believe) and undergo times of innocence (when they think theyre blissfully in love) as well as stress (when they start falling apart and romeo thinks juliet is dead)

Is she young? I wouldn’t say she’s in her childhood.

For Shakespeare, I agree R+J would work.

Have you read Sound and Fury? That would be good for this prompt. The characters all start as little kids, and you can even compare their childhood to their life as an adult.

Ahhhh… Dandelion Wine and Sons & Lovers works perfect for me in terms of what I had to read this year.

How about Lord of the Flies?
