<p>M.F.A. programs are often, but not always, nested inside English departments, and not every university offers the M.F.A. You do not get an M.F.A. in English, however; you get it in creative writing.</p>
<p>Also, keep in mind that creative writing MFA programs are HIGHLY competitive.</p>
