So in applying to summer programs there are TONS of letters of recommendations to ask for, and I was wondering if it ruins my chances to have one science teacher and one english teacher recommend rather than both STEM teachers…
Son used both an English teacher and a social studies teacher and had very good results. In fact, that seemed to help him during his summer apps and later in his college applications. Even the techy schools liked to see some balance…maybe I should say, especially the techy schools commented on those specific qualities. Strength across the board for a science kid is a very good, sought after thing-just be sure to give them science and math recs where they are asked for, specifically. If it makes you feel better, because you have probably had to apply already and got no responses, son actually attended a program where you seem to have applied. Good luck!
