English

In my sophomore and freshman years of high school I didn’t take Honors English, is this bad? even if I’m taking AP English III and AP English IV in junior and senior years?

Will it be totally looked down upon that I didn’t take the Honors Courses?

It won’t necessarily be looked down upon, although top schools do typically prefer that applicants have gone through the most rigorous course curriculum available at their school. If you can do really well in those AP English classes, I think it should help a lot more. Also, if there was any personal reason you were not able to take those honors courses, it’s possible for you to explain that in your application.

By the way, are you taking AP English Language & Composition and AP English Literature, respectively? There are no such courses as AP English III & IV…

that’s what he means by AP English 3 and 4.

^ Oh alright. I wasn’t sure if the OP might’ve mistaken AP for Honors English 3 & 4. But okay, it’s all good.

An upward trend with more academic involvement is good, and the way I see it, unless you’re getting a letter of rec from a non-honors teacher, there’s nothing to be said here - you’re fine.
