If you get accepted to lets say College X for the fall semester, but something happens, and you decide to have a semester off - will admissions quickly review you when you apply for second semester - or will they go through the same painful process that you faced at the very beginning? Also, do a lot of colleges allow you to do this? How about a couple liberal arts schools. I don’t see why they’d take so long - they said yes the first time, and plus, your full end of the year grade report would also be finalized.

Many colleges, once you are admitted, will allow you to delay your start time a semester or even a year. In other words, depending on college, you may not need to even reapply; you just need to talk to them after admission, and make the request.
