been enjoying downloading & listening to podcasts on various topics such as film, food, art, humor & sports, etc from NPR but wondering if anyone else is doing so & finding similar podcasts elsewhere. the mp3 format plays well in my car
I listen to a lot of podcasts. I just do a search of podcasts and add to my list when something strikes my fancy. Currently on my list is Serial, Planet Money, Ted Radio Hour, Rachel Maddow and a bunch of different tennis podcasts. I mostly listen to them at night in bed but usually fall asleep before the podcast is over.
I really enjoy the podcasts of This American Life. I listen while I walk.
Other podcast networks with offerings similar to NPR’s:
Slate’s Panoply Network
New York Times
New Yorker has a couple
Public Radio International (To The Best Of Our Knowledge is very good).
BBC & BBC Radio 4
My daughter has played some of the Freakonomics Radio podcasts in the car, which are interesting.
We listen to a lot of Planet Money , but also RadioLab and PRI’s Geoquiz (which is only 5 minutes, sadly).
Do you mean like TED talks? I don’t know about formats other than video available at ted.com
I have very eclectic tastes
What I missed in history class
Masterpiece theater, Downton Abbey
The Tony Kornheiser Show
Another Mother Podcast
Undisclosed: the state v Adnan Syed
SI Media Podcast with Richard Dietsch
Got them all on iTunes.
Mike Rowe just started doing podcasts this month. I haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but if they’re as good as his story telling, or even “Fridays with Freddy” on Fb, then they’ll be very entertaining.

No, TED Radio Hour podcast. http://www.npr.org/podcasts/510298/ted-radio-hour
I just downloaded a bunch of StoryCorps.
https://storycorps.org/about/
Non-NPR ones I like include Modern Love, Longform, and Motley Fool Answers. It is NPR, but I love their new NPR Politics podcast.
On Being with Krista Tippett. I skim the feed for guests, then usually listen to the unedited long version. I also skim The Commonwealth Club of California for topic/guest speakers. FiveThirtyEight Elections. Third Coast Audio Festival. Long Haul: Public Radio Documentaries. Thich Nhat Hanh Dharma Talks.
Then a bunch that have been mentioned already or that are NPR: Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, Latino USA, Freakonomics Radio, Snap Judgement, TED Radio Hour, Fresh Air, Planet Money, This American Life, Radiolab, Marketplace, Death Sex & Money, Note to Self.
Podcasts are one of the very best “new” things!
Another fan of Modern Love and Masterpiece. Just discovered that Dahlia Lithwick has a podcast on SCOTUS called Amicus.
I love to listen to America’s Test Kitchen.
Great food, kitchen tips. Love the viewer call in time too.
My favorite podcast is the Judge John Hodgman Podcast.
RadioLab
99% Invisible
How to do Everything (funny!)
TED Radio Hour
Science Friday
Freakonomics

Grantland podcasts were the best
Bill Simmons has a new podcast and a new website. The Ringer. I think it’s either up and running now or will be very shortly.
Sorry this is for @CaliCash. Bill Simmons is the creator of Grantland and I think many of the Grantland people are going to The Ringer. After I posted, I thought no one would have any idea of what I was talking about lol!
I have an app called Podcast Addict. I used to listen to them while walking the dog. It has a ton of different podcasts and groups them by subject. Some are terrible, some are really good.
