Entry Level Mathematics Test Issues CSUSM

So I will be attending CSU San Marcos this fall. I was emailed by the school and told that i have to take an entry test to determine my college mathematics readiness because I did not demonstrate it on a test in the 11th grade. So I took the test, not knowing the exemptions, because the school stated it was mandatory or you would not be able to attend the college. I scored a 38 sadly (i didn’t prepare for it because I was focusing on my ap test coming up) and they state that scores below 50 require students to take a summer course. But after the test I went on their website and saw that I was exempt from taking the test if I have taken an AP Stats course and passed both semesters and was able to transfer the proof, the transcript, over to the school, which I did pass. Only problem is that I could not send out my final grade, the proof, for the class because when I received the email I was still in school and final semester of the class had not been officially graded but I had an A, it wasn’t put on the paper yet. So is there anything I can do to get out of attending the summer class? Because technically I should not have taken the test since I was exempt but I wasn’t allowed to prove it due to their time period of the test. Now they have my transcript and see that I have passed but still state I have to take the class due to the score on the test I shouldn’t have taken in the first place. What should I do?
