Environment

What are the differences between environment studies and enviromental sciences? What makes up geosciences? What careers can these majors get into?

Environmental studies is more social sciences and politics where you’ll get an overview over the basic geological sciences and also the history and politics of environmental changes, policy, movements etc. Environmental sciences focuses more on the actual science part of effects of various things on the environment. So as an environmental science major you’d be more likely to do a chemical analysis of a body of water near a major polluting sight while as an environmental studies major you’d be more likely to analyze the pros/cons of the kyoto protocol and reasons why the USA hasn’t signed it and if it should.

Geosciences are more oceanography/geology; study of the physical make-up of the earth. Careers would look something like politician, environmental laywer, academia, field researcher, environmental advocacy, NGOs, think tanks, etc.
