EPGY Chances for a Sophomore?

I’ll apply for Humanities. As of right now, I have a 3.8/4.04 GPA. I have solid grades in all of my humanities courses:

First semester (Second semester just started so of course, I have 100’s in all of my classes :P):
Spanish II (Honors not offered): 95%
Honors World History: 94%
Honors American Lit: 97%
Religion (I don’t know if this counts…?): 95%

-I’m the top Spanish student in my grade, and my teacher will put me in Honors Spanish IV next year.
-I’m pretty good at History, and it’s definitely one of my favorite subjects.
-My English teacher says that my writing abilities are at a collegiate level.
-Religion…it’s just there lol. It’s an interesting course.

My PSAT score CR+W sucks though (980 combined…ugh). I was an absolutely MESS the day of the test (sleep deprived, crying hysterically on the way to school [and I never, ever cry], didn’t study for it at all, and severe test anxiety) and the stupid score I got does not reflect my abilities at all. CR and W are in the 78% percentile. OK I guess, but not great…especially for my capabilities.

So…chances?

PS: Excuse any mistakes. I’m using my iPhone and the keyboard is really annoying.

Thanks!

Bump Bump Bumppppp

As long as you wrote good essays I think you’ll be fine. You might want to have your counselor explain your PSAT score if possible though

Thanks alwaysleah! I need to talk to my guidance counselor about the score…he probably thinks that I’m stupid or something…

Hahaha everyone has their bad days. Yeah if possible he should enclose a note just saying something along the lines of “Student A is an intelligent, enthusiastic student and I feel it is important to take note that her PSAT score do not reflect her true academic ability…blah blah blah etc.” but anyway my sister got in the summer after her sophomore year for a writing class. She had lower grades but higher scores

Haha thanks!! And that’s really awesome! Does she go to Stanford now?

I wonder if they take the ACT…they don’t mention it on the list of standardized tests…hmm…I feel that I’d do much better on the ACT. I heard that it’s more straightforward and doesn’t play mind games like the SAT!

No she’s a freshman at a small LAC called mills college. She got almost a full ride so it just made sense to go there haha.

Yeah maybe. I’m sure you could call and ask! I’ve only taken the sat but I’m going to do the act at some point. With the sat it’s just practice. After looking over a few review books you’ll eventually pick up on the tricks. There actually aren’t that many of them.
