EPGY Summer Institutes

I will be taking the Investigations in Bioscience and Biotechnology course at the EPGY Summer Institutes. Has anyone here taken that? How was it? Do you get to do research there?

lol im sorry but this question was funny

so i took the same course 3 years ago

EPGY is a mostly social program. yes, you will learn some things, but there are not university-level skills or content for the most part.

For this particular one, it really depends on your instructor. Mine was amazing, so we went into her lab and learned a few research techniques (although there is no actual research done). If they do it the same way, they will break you up into different focus areas (e.g. bioengineering, cancer, microbio research, etc.) based on the different instructors that they have.

it was really fun and educational, and the people were awesome, but don’t expect high-level academia

so you signed up for a 3000 dollar program without knowing what goes on there?

I knew that we would take a few classes and work extensively in the lab; however, the website is not specific, so I wanted to know what exactly one does in the labs. I guess research is not one of those things.
