Epic cram schedule for maximum productivity

Thought I would post this puppy for fun. I have two mid terms next week and I want to get 10 hours of studying done on Saturday and Sunday. I made up a study schedule in order to achieve this. Curious if you guys think its the best possible approach to studying 10hrs in one day and if you think you could stick to it yourself.

7:30am - 8:00am - Shower/Breakfast
8:00am - 12:00pm - Studying 50mins/hr = 200mins
12:00pm - 1:00pm - Lunch
1:00pm - 5:00pm - Studying 50mins/hr = 200mins
5:00pm - 6:00pm - Dinner
6:00pm - 10:00pm - Studying 50mins/hr = 200mins
10:00pm - 11:30pm - Whatever
11:30pm - 7:30am Sleepy times
Repeat

Total time spent studying = 600mins or 10hrs
After every 50mins of studying, take a 10min break.
All time studying is spent actually studying, not reading notes while you watch TV etc. As you can see I take my time management pretty cereal.

Adderall…

I don’t understand how everyone gets Adderall so easy. I don’t know one person that can get it.

as long as you put your mind to it, you don’t need adderall.
OP, good luck with this, and I’m doing the same exact thing this weekend. during the last midterm week, I did a 12 hour-10 hour-9 hour three day study marathon right before my three exams.
i think it depends on the person. for some, it sounds like a horrible idea. but for others, like me, i thrive off the extreme pressure of tough mental challenges. it may not be good for my health, but it sure felt good after I got my A’s

Somehow last Spring I pulled off barely studying before the tests and still managed an A in 5 classes, I’m not risking that anymore but I still tend to pull near All-Nighters. It’s not healthy but that fear-boost really fixes things up. You learn to study in a way that you value it when a professor says “Okay I’ll give you all 2-5 minutes before the test for a final review of a few things” or just the few moments before class starts. You can actually catch quite a bit in that time.

SO MUCH SLEEP. I sleep every other day.

I still don’t understand how you people can study so much in a single day. I burn out from studying in about 3 hours.

Take breaks regularly. Study for 30 or 45 min, like focused and no distractions. Then take a 30 to 15 min break to dick around. Repeat until you have studied. The knowledge that a break is coming up at a regular time doesn’t make you loathe studying. Plus you’ll still be thinking about what u studied when ur on ur break.

can someone explain “adderall” to me? does this help you concentrate and get things done? cause i have a hard time studying and doing work, my TV & laptop distract me alot and makes me do work at the last minute causing all nighters

I regularly work 18 hours a day during exams without breaks. I would rather have breaks, but the problem I have is that if I go to take a ten minute break it takes me two hours to get really focused again, which I don’t have time for, so I just end up not taking any breaks at all besides to use the restroom. On a more normal day I study 5-10 consecutive hours.

basedboy, no, adderall won’t help you. if you don’t have the discipline to turn off the laptop and get to work, adderall won’t change that.

^Dang you need to teach me how to do that. I got midterms comin up next week and I don’t know anything.

I find it tough to refocus too. I find if I keep the break short (10mins max) and don’t give my mind anything else to focus on during it, I can refocus pretty quick. That means no going on the internet or talking to anyone or watching TV during the break. Basically just get up and walk around, maybe have a snack. But I find if I don’t take those breaks, after 2-3 hours of intense concentration my brain just goes to mush and I start to trail off and become less efficient.

^I’m somewhat like that. If I can work for two or three solid hours, I’ll be productive and in the zone and will definitely get work done. However, beyond three hours, I need around a ten or twenty minute break, at least. A lot of times, I take a slightly longer break so that I can refocus again.

That being said, it’s going to be really hard to concentrate on my upcoming exams. Grr.

I generally wouldn’t put “cram” and “maximum productivity” together, but you seem to have worked out a good schedule.

Definately take adderal. Last week I had 2 midterms and I didn’t study at all before both of them and didn’t know what exactly would be on them. The one test was at 8pm the next day so I took one 30mg pill that i got from my dealer at 9pm the night before and stayed up and studied straight to 6am without any distractions whatsoever. I took a three hour nap and was refreshed. I aced the test that night and reviewed for my second midterm the next day and aced that one.

If you can get your hands on adderal eat before you take it because once you’re on it you lose your appetite so you don’t have to worry about eating and can save yourself a couple hours.

Studies have shown that adderall really doesn’t help increase productivity or concentration that much, any effects are more of a placebo effect than an actual boost to concentration. Even, with actual ADHD patients, the drug stops working after a 1-2 years. Studies also show that there are no real long term side effects that could cause harm, but there is the possibility that you become unable to study without the drug, not a physical addiction, but a psychological one.

cabhax: I have actual adhd and I can do that without adderall. I am not impressed and you shouldn’t be either. What a waste of money!

Adderall is illegal - it’s active ingredient is mixed [amphetamine salts, which are schedule II (in the US). Unless you’re actually ADHD (or got the Adderall prescribed by your doctor), don’t.

Amphetamine use in adolescence may impair adult working memory | News Bureau | University of Illinois](Amphetamine - Wikipedia)

As for studying … well, only thing I can add is that I find a 10-20 min brief run to be a much better study break than spending that 10-20 min doing anything else. And, personally, I’ve found studying a little every day (less than 3 hours) is more efficient than trying to cram near the end.

Last time I’ve pulled a 10+hr/day* study routine was for the USABO, and I’ve had times where I’ve studied while working out** or eating.

About your schedule: It’s probably too late by now, but I feel that 1hr/meal is a little excessive. 15-30 min is really all the time you need to eat. Also - studying while eating is more efficient (for me) than studying, then eating, and then studying again.

Oh, and I envy your 8 full hours of sleep.

(Hah! It was definitely closer to 14hr/day…)
(*Listened to the .mp3 files for my French class, over and over again)

This thread is really depressing.
