After spending time on here and really just thinking some things over I have decided I am going to do whatever it takes to go back to becoming a straight A student. Throughout middle school I used to get straight As and was in all honors classes. Come Freshman and Sophmore year in High School I start playing competitive golf, start a business, day trade, waste countless hours on FB and Twitter, president of 2 clubs and still manage a Honors and AP course load. As you can imagine it was a huge jump from really just solely focusing on my grades and academics in middle school to starting to balance alot of other things in HS. I have realized that grades really werent really my first priority Freshmen and Sophmore year. Although My GPA was not terrible (3.75 weighted both years) and I did not slack in my course load I did not give my academics due dillegence. So I have decided to quit social networking completely and limit all other computer/tv time to 1 hour daily, 1 hour for exercise or golf practice and the rest for studying. The intelligence was always there, but I dont beleive I have applied my self in the right ways these past two year. So I have discussed with my guidance councilor and we have come up with a schedule that I feel I can manage and that intrests while boosting my GPA. If all goes as planned I should be able to manage a 4.43 somphmore and a 4.52 senior year. Luckily most of the colleges I am thinking about disregard freshmen grade (CMU, UC Berk, U Mich, NYU) so averaging my soph,jr,and sr grade it should come out to a 4.2. As for SATs I got a 210 on my soph PSATs and will be taking and extensive 2 week 7 hour a day SAT course and hopefully will be able to get the SAT somewhere in the 2250-2350 range. Along with that I am in contact with college golf coaches about recruitment. Do you guys still think I have a chance to get into top 30 schools or have I shot myself in the foot?

Colleges realize that the transition to high school can be a tough one, especially if you want to get involved in clubs. If you have an upward trend on GPA you should be good.

dude. DUDE. micheal jackson was kicked off his high school basketball team. he decided to get on varsity by next year. he did it.

it’s not about, “is it doable?” it’s about, will you do it?

you should manage. you sound determined. and colleges don’t take freshman year into much consideration. plus, they love upward trends.

good luck
