We just received the Equifax notice (for slightly over $10). BUT, I’m SOOO paranoid to click on any web link for fear of scams. The webmail even says to google and look for the 'true" Equifax site if you’re concerned about clicking on an email notice, since there are so many copycats. So then, how do you know which Equifax site is the real one? 
Yes, first step make the equifax debit card a payment method on your amazon account, next buy a $7.44 amazon gift card and select the equifax card as the payment. I bought the amazon gift card as a gift to an email address I own. Then when the email came from amazon with the redemption code, I redeemed it on my amazon account. So the end result is a gift card balance with the $7.44 on it. Lastly, I removed that equifax card as a payment method, so I would not be confused and try to use it at a later date.
I had two debit cards (one in my name and one in my husband’s name) and these steps took a little while but I got them done.
