Error in the Common Application?

At the very start of this year, I asked my school registrar how I ranked in my graduating class. After looking up my profile on her computer, she told me that I was ranked as #4 in my class. This is what I put under “Class Rank” in the CommonApp. However, I just received a copy of my school’s profile, and it says that my school does not rank students. I am freaking out now because I am afraid that the Brown admissions officers will think that I am trying to lie on my application. Do colleges really look at high school profiles that much? Should I call the Brown admissions office and tell them about my mistake, or will that just make me look worse? (I applied early decision…) I don’t know what to do!

All the profile probably means is that they do not rank for external distribution- ie, they don’t reveal rank to outside parties. Many schools still do the calculations. Adcoms will probably guess someone told you your position. Assuming your gpa matches this purported rank, I’m guessing no one will make noise. Not something to lose sleep over. If needed, speak with your GC.
