error on my decision letter

I received the following letter from Notre Dame regarding my rejection from the university (this is just an excerpt):

This is quite amusing seeing as I did not apply for financial aid, Notre Dame claims to be need blind, and I listed on the common application that my family is in the highest income bracket.

I then received an email a few days later with an apology regarding their reasoning for rejecting me, as apparently they had assumed that because I live overseas, that must make me an international student (even though consistently in my application it is stated that I am an American citizen). Here is an excerpt:

This also made me a bit curious regarding their stance on international applicants: do they typically assume that such applicants require financial aid?

Regardless, it definitely made the rejection much easier, as it made me feel as though perhaps the school never bothered to even read my application and instead rejected me by a swift check of my SAT scores - which are, admittedly, poor.

I have yet to receive any letter regarding the university’s decision on my application, so I’m assuming that they sent it to the wrong country, again. About two years ago I requested information from the university and it took several months to arrive at my home for they had sent it to China as opposed to Singapore. A bit embarrassing for them I’d say, and definitely a bad omen for things to come.

Anyways, the point of my rambling, is that I’m curious if a similar situation has occurred for any other rejected TCKs? Perhaps I’m reading into the error too much, but I am after all only curious (:

Oh and before anyone says it - no, I am not resentful and taking out my anger regarding my rejection. I am simply pointing out a rather amusing error on Notre Dame’s part.
