ESA animal mauls another passenger on airline flight

American Airline is soon to follow.

Can’t wait for ALL airlines to follow suit. It’s a shame so much abuse has taken things so far down this path. :frowning:

Side issue: British airways will be discontinuing reclining seats https://www.forbes.com/sites/ericrosen/2018/01/11/british-airways-to-remove-reclining-economy-seats-on-some-flights/

Only for flight of up to 4 hours. I like it. On a flight that short no one will be sleeping anyway.

My DH has a talent for falling asleep when he sits down on a plane, regardless of the duration of the flight. He has the same skill for nodding off as soon a s a sermon starts in a religious setting

As long as he doesn’t nod off when you start talking.

Oh he does that too
He must have fallen asleep when he asked me if I wanted his old iwatch (I said YES, I wanted to try it out) - instead he sent it , along with his old iphone, to one of our nephews

You haven’t met my husband. He sleeps through most flights. Like jym626’s DH, he often falls asleep as soon as he sits down. Something about the sound of the air coming through those little adjustable vents just lulls him right to sleep.

For 50 bucks I’ll send you an official looking letter saying your pet behaves. Just send me a short clip of them sitting.

Looking to see who can sign the “appropriate behavior” documentation, but happy to see Delta says:

The “behavior” form is a self report https://www.delta.com/content/dam/delta-www/pdfs/policy/EmotionalSupportAnimal-RequiredForms.pdf

NOT TRUE with respect to support animals.

But it’s a start

“The “behavior” form is a self report”
Rats–I was gonna make lots of money

Interesting observation. We are visiting a botanical garden that has its annual “dogs in the garden” event. So. Many. Cute. Dogs! But - there is not a single dog in the cafe or the gift shop. There are signs posted that only ADA defined service dogs are welcome. So far, I have not seen a single fake service pooch indoors or any attempt to bring one in. Those dogs have well-trained humans, apparently.

I like that Delta is requiring people touting ESA animals (and they have limited what animals they will allow, YAY!) to have their treating doctor fill out Delta’s form, not just provide a generic letter. If it prevents even one mental health professional with questionable ethics who has been selling fake letters on line from continuing to do it, then that’s a start.

NRDsb4: Yes, of course I mean ESA’s. Service animals are highly trained to do a specific job and are no danger to the public at all (except if allergic). More people are allergic to cats anyway, and these are mostly dogs.

If people weren’t such LIARS, we wouldn’t have to go this route of restriction. Just use common sense and leave your pets at home.

I read the airline document will be “self-report”. If people already lie, they aren’t going to be deterred from lying again on a form.

If they lie about the behavior and the pet misbehaves (soils the area, bothers other people or animals etc) they will get the boot! YAY!

Only the “behavior” form is a self report. They still need a healthcare provider to fill out the other form, and they need the vet to confirm that all vaccinations are up to date.

How will they get the boot if they eat off tray tables? They’ll be at 30,000 feet!

I’m going to apply for the job at Delta as the animal scanner as they now have to have everything reviewed 2 days prior to boarding. I’m pretty much turning everyone down.
