The topic for essay #2 is the following: Share an experience from your high school years through which you have gained respect for intellectual, social, or cultural differences.

I would be greatly pleased if people can give me advise on what kind of things I can talk about. I’ve been pondering about this topic for over a week now, and I’m still stuck on how to write this short essay.

Our school has exchange students every year. I became very good friends with a Brazilian exchange student since he had some of the classes I had. Would that work?

Thank you again, notthatgood4. I recently finished writing my four short essays. I just need to get them proofread. I got my teacher recommendation taken care of, and now I need to prep up till January 25th for the SAT so I can do well on the 26th of January.

Think it would be bad if I talked about something that happened before High School? The essay was really good, but it wasn’t from my High School years.

@Aodh: Um… application deadline was yesterday, January 15th. Also, UGA will simply think that you don’t know how to follow directions if you talk about something before high school since the topic clearly states “during your high school years.”

I made the deadline, but I feel my application isn’t representative of me, which is why I plan on contacting them tomorrow about my application, since I feel that there is more they should know about me.

The essay I used is really good, but the actual situation I use as an example is actually from earlier in my life, but I connect it to instances in my high school years. (The ‘realization’ I discuss in my essay occurs in High School.) So I guess it kinda fits, but not completely, but it is a good essay.

That, in addition to the fact many of my responses in the activities/sports sections got cut off, leads me to believe they may not take my app. seriously.

I am going to contact them tomorrow to somehow resolve these issues, if I can still pacify the situation.

I guess we will see what happens.

…and to they keep records of how many times I call. If they did, it would further show my interest in UGA since I have called them before and plan to call them again.

Hopefully these things won’t screw me, but I am not all that confident…

Aodh: Good luck rectifying the situation. You sound slightly paranoid; they don’t keep records of calls, who’s a pest, who’s not, etc. They are very easy to work with. I had several issues I had to deal w/ 2 years ago when son #1 applied while living abroad. The hard part is getting a live person; if you do that, you can work out the rest.
