Essay ACT/SAT

This is going to sound cocky, but isn’t meant to.

On the ACT I know that a 10/12 is a good score. How good is it? Do you think I would probably be able to get the same essay score on the SAT when I take it in April?

Do you have to pay to see your essay online?

It reallly depends on what kind of essays you’re good at. I think ACT does a good job with essays. They have an objective essay with a real school-related topic, and they grade you on how logical your essay is.

The SAT essay is VERY fickle. With such abstract topics and many conspiracy theories about biases against bad handwriting, I’d say it’s more difficult to get a high score on SAT essay unless you’re really good at open-ended essays.

No you don’t have to pay to see SAT essay score.

What about the ACT essay online ?

I would have to agree with Rman, the SAT essay can be really ambiguous. This is an exaggeration, but the prompts can be like, “What is your opinion on the world?” I remember my SAT essay having something to do with practical training vs. vocational training (along those lines); whereas my ACT essay was on playing sports and how that affects academics (a lot more concrete).

However, I scored higher on my SAT essay for some reason. So, while the prompts can be very annoying, just pick around 3 examples to support your argument and you should be fine.

As to the ACT essay online (not sure what you’re referring to), but in order to see your ACT score early, you have to pay $5 or something (you usually only get to see the multiple choice though). Then your full score report comes about 6 weeks later.

What is the link to the website for the ACT essays

Here’s the link to the ACT’s info on the writing section. Hopefully this is what you’re looking for.

Thanks, but that isn’t what I’m looking for. I think you have to order what I want: what you produced on the day of the test.

`HI, I applied to those two colleges and got in, Duquesne and University of Sciences in Philadelphia.

I both got in to them as a pharmacy major.

I would like to know which one is better as socially and educationally.

Anyone knows??Please give me some info. I have to decide where to go!

THANK YOU.

dont get your hopes up, most colleges aren’t to be that critical/ looking at the essay at all since there are no real standards for the writing section yet.

SAT Class - 12/12

Real Test (I have crap handwriting) - 7/12

There is no way in hell I wrote that badly. I am certain penmanship counts.

Personally, I think that the SAT is graded easier, just use literary examples and you’ll be fine! I know that sounds like a mass generalization, but I wrote what I thought was a better essay in March and got a 10 using non-literary examples, but when I mentioned Poe and Fitzgerald in June, I got a 12. Honestly, I think that a lot of the info I used in there was false. The ACT, on the other hand, I got a 10 as well, and I felt that was probably the most logical essay that I had written of the three. It’s all very subjective though, I guess no one will ever know how they grade them.

hmm, that sucks if handwriting counts, consideirng one of my teachers once told me that “I write like a stroke victim”. But I got a 10 on the essay, maybe I would have scored better? I don’t know, I’m not too concerned either way.
