Essay Hooks? Is it bad to start off with a general statement?

Does it sound bad for a hook to have the word “everyone”?

OK, the problem seems to be fixed.

And these compute issues are killing me today!!!

Need context. But I prefer a great opening sentence rather than a general one, as does Stanford

Would you be willing to read my essay?

I would!
