<p>How big of a deal is it if my application essay is, I don’t know, about 105 words longer than the application suggests?</p>

<p>If I could go back and change one thing about my college applications, I would have written shorter essays. I’m a pretty good writer and didn’t have to go on and on explaining every little detail about everything to prove my ability/desire. That said, they won’t count how many words are in your essays. The word limit is more of a guideline. However, don’t abuse it as most schools only look at each application for like 10 minutes at a time.</p>
