<p>It says that they recommend that you have at least 250. But I would still try to stay within the limit because a recommendation is a pc way of saying do it.</p>
<p>I think the UCLA and UCB (if thats where you are applying to) really would like to know more about the student than could be fit in just 200 words. I would definitely not go below 250 words for the second prompt.</p>
<p>This year you can choose to use as much “real estate” on each prompt that you choose to. The UC only recommends you use 250 because it is difficult to provide enough information with less than that. If you feel 200 words can adequately answer the question and provide the reader with enough information 800/200 is fine.</p>
