Essay on teacher who committed suicide

If I write my essay on an influential person, and I use my 7th grade teacher who committed suicide (he was my favorite teacher and a great person, though), would it be too much or would it be okay?

If you have a strong idea and you need to mention the suicide, go for it, but be careful don not make it too overwhelming.

i see this is a very risky one and could end up bad if not executed well, which is really hard to do.

I think the topic would stick out if executed well but it could be disastrous if you sound shallow or way too dramatic!

I’d suggest that you should write a draft and tell your friends/family/cc people to give credible review on it! If the review is satisfactory then you are golde, if it ain’t then you have tons of time to think of another idea!

It sounds like an alright essay topic, but it may veer off and become too negative. Also, keep in mind that colleges consider what you’ve done during high school in terms of applications. They may or may not want an essay devoted to something that happened 5 years ago.

Remember that whatever the subject of an essay, the essay really should be about you, not filled with mainly the specifics of the subject. Writing about how the teacher influenced you could make a good essay. Perhaps, for instance, as a result of her death, you plan to go into a helping profession. Focusing only on the teacher and her life would not make a good essay.
