essay on transition from childhood to adulthood - is my essay topic to basic?

i am doing my essay on a religious event. i read that there will be tons of essays on bar-mitzvahs, sweet 16, etc. (you get the picture). my essay is on something similar to a bar-mitzvah but it is for a different religion. and we all have different rituals. so will college officers not like it because of the “basic” theme i used? or will i stand out?
PLEASE PM ME IF YOU WANT A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF MY ESSAY
thanks!

It’s more about how the experience affected and relates to you. Ideally, the narration implies your personality; as “bar-mitzvah like” events are similar for everyone, they make for less effective topics.

I have read one good essay on this prompt. The applicant wrote about watching her father get shot.

This prompt is challenging and in my opinion, the hardest of the five. I agree with @1golfer1. My guidance counselor said that over the years, he’s also only seen one good essay: it was about this student’s mother dying when he was 15 and his father dying when the student was age 18. He had no brothers/sisters, and both parents dead. He’s now alone in the world. That’s a real transition from childhood to adulthood. How can your story compete with that one?
