Which do you think will be weighted more? I know a couple other people have this question as they did really well on the essay but didn’t do so hot on the multiple choice bringing their score down.

According to Collegeboard:
Multiple-Choice: 50%
Essay: 25%
Given (free-points): 25%

However, it always depends on the curve. I know someone who got a nine on the essay and got all the multiple choice right and they got an 800.

I mean, do you think colleges will check the essay over the multiple choice if the essay was significantly higher in relation to the rest of the SAT Writing score?

im not sure, but boston college does not even consider the essay score, and only looks at the multiple choice subscore. im pretty sure most schools put more weight on the multiple choice .

What matters is the composite score. The MC is 2/3, the essay is 1/3. The individual components don’t matter; the overall, out-of-800 score matters.
