Essay prompt inspiration help?

I could really use some inspiration in writing a couple essays… I’m a middle class Asian kid that has lived a relatively plain and uneventful life so far, and don’t really have my future planned out.

If you guys have any example essays or tips to give me regarding the “why you’re unique”, the “what your dream is”, or the “how your past shaped you” type prompts I would greatly appreciate it. I already tried to google them, and couldn’t really find anything.

I’ve literally been staring at the essay prompts on my computer screen for 30 minutes and nothing has struck me at all. Please, help me out!

You are describing exactly what I fear my kids will feel when they are applying. But I hope you’ve actually spent more time than 30 minutes thinking about this. Unfortunately I don’t think you can realistically expect anyone here to give you inspiration about --or to be able to google-- why YOU are unique, what YOUR dreams are, or how YOUR past has shaped you.

You may feel like a stereotypical middle class AA kid, but you’ve got to scratch the surface and reflect on what/who in your life has shaped who you are.

My advice is is to read CC’s faqs and main posts about essay writing. Heck, read peoples’ essays too. Here is an excellent article I found here and bookmarked, complete with actual essays that made it past the adcom people, which I will be recommending to my own kid:

Good luck!
