If you really wanted to reveal your multi-faceted personality, would it help to write two contrasting essays? one revealing your serious side and one of a lighter side? Or, would the lighter essay detract from the impact of the more serious essay and make it seem insincere? Or is it good to provide opportunity for catharsis in there? OR do they just not have the same reader read both essays?

it doesnt matter. doing a “serious essay” and one “lighter essay” seems ok. just so long as they add to the image of your overall character.

lol, no. the same reader(s) will read both essays.

I wrote two totally different ones, but the subject matter was totally different as well. Just don’t write a lighthearted essay about a funeral or something!

or do if you can…i wrote a sort of lighthearted essay (b/c im a really light hearted person)about an otherwise morbid topic and most people i asked to read think i pulled it off really well so it just depends on who you are. Right whatever you’re comfortable with and it’ll be fine.

ya shocking the reader or surprising him/her with something unusual can never hurt. unless its totally distasteful and unorthodox.
