Essay Score Slight Disappointment

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your new ACT scores. :3

I ended up getting a 33 composite (36 E, 32 M, 33 R, 32 S), but my essay score was an eight.

And that’s a “fine” essay score and all…it’s not ideal; it’s satisfactory though. But, like, I’m an intended English major? I’ve won multiple awards for writing; I’m currently interning at a regional magazine; and I’ll be attending a (fairly) selective writing program with a (relatively) prestigious literary journal this summer.

Will my essay score, like, “damage me?” Or will these other writing-related things compensate for it?

(Technically I got a 33.25 overall. I was not a particularly happy boy last night.)

The essay is based off of a format. If you stray from the format (e.g. have your own style) you will be marked down. The scorers want to see how well you can follow their format. Don’t take it personally if your essay score isn’t exceptional, I’d wager that James Joyce would have gotten a 2.
