Which structure for the columbia essay do you think would fare better?

A seemingly abstract, witty work that more reflects your character as opposed to your accomplishments. (Creative theme-> i.e Talking about your garbage)

OR

A well-written conventional/straightforward piece that something goes along the lines of … I’m very interested in _, I’ve done , and I hope to continue through Columbia’s extraordinary resources.

I think in the case of the latter, its a more straightforward representation of your accomplishments (I won so-and-so), what you’ve done (i.e. I pursued my interest in Biology by doing research @ Columbia), and why I want to go to Columbia.

In the case of the former, (creative), I think I can present myself more creatively. But as a downside, it’ll be much harder and basically not possible to talk directly about my accomplishments. But the creative structure probably reflects me as a funny, strong character.

the verdict?

ANd would you guys suggest sending in a supplemental Resume? It’s really hard to talk about my most involved EC (that I’ve literally spent 1000+ hours in) in about 225 characters which is what the online app limits you to.
