Hello all
Thanks for visiting my post!

Here’s my issue:
One of UT’s essay topics is to write about your most important person and how/why they have impacted your life.

I want to write this essay about my mom. However, the reason she is my most important and the biggest impact on me is that from her actions and attitudes, I have learned how I don’t want to be in the future. In a sense, she is also my opposite. As I have grown up, I have increasingly found my ideals to oppose hers. I do not hate her although I do not have overwhelming adoration for her either. For a large part of my childhood she has been a great source of pain. Through the faults I see in her, I have a better understanding and sympathy for the individual situations of every person.

Should I write about how I truly feel towards her in my essay though? I fear that I may end up leaving a bad impression… Or be seen as a whining child or crazy cynic.

Your thoughts?
