Essay Topic

I wanna write an essay based on the second question (about failures) about my tenth grade year and how for the first time in my life I struggled keeping everything together in school, but I learned from that year and can balance my school and my life much more efficiently and how I’ve become a lot more self-motivated since then. Is this too blasé or boring for the essay?

A good rule of thumb is: Could another person write this same essay? If I read this essay does it sound like me or could it be anyone? If someone else could have written the essay, then usually the topic is too cliché. Admissions officers want to get to know who you are as an individual and what makes you stand out.

The problem with this type of essay is that it could easily turn into a “whiny” essay- you have to focus on what specifically you learned and how it will help you in the future.
