Essay Topics?

I sort of have a few ideas for my common app essay, but I really don’t know what to go with:

Not ever really fitting into my hometown, and not realizing this until I started going to prep school. I was going to describe one materialistic aspect of people, like shoes for example, and show that I was trying to fit into something that I wasn’t back home, but now my true tastes have shown at my new school.

An incident where I was supposed to draw blood from an old lady (I work as a phlebotomist at my local hospital), but she hid herself in the bathroom for five hours, and I wasn’t able to do it. We tried coaxing her out, and it was pretty funny looking back at it.

How Kanye is in some ways a person that I admire through his music and the meanings of his lyrics.

A quote from my grandpa that I can never truly be American, even though I was born in America, lived here all my live, etc.

Thanks for the help.

Please feel free to critique.

Sounds like you’d be bashing people - not a good idea

You didn’t succeed, and you’re laughing at scared old people - funny, but no a good idea

Not bad, may be a specific example

What are you then? Again, alienating yourself is not a good idea

Seems like you try to alienate yourself, or try not to fit in. This isn’t a bad thing necessarily, butjust an observation. You should be trying to figure out how to show why your uniqueness helps and improves your surroundings and/or society, not why you can’t fit in them.

Don’t write about phlebotemy or Kanye. You probably already have your essay by now though.
