Is it bad if a supplemental and the common app essays incorporate the same topic? My supp essay for Cornell intertwines my love of sailing and the sailing community with my interest in psychology and marketing. My common app essay discusses what I’ve gained from a name I got at sailing and my experience on the team. This isn’t the place to judge my choice of subjects… I just want to know if I should remove the mention of sailing from one of them or if it adds to my application as it clearly shows my devotion (for lack of a better word) to sailing? Or will that be taken the wrong way since it isn’t academic?
