Hi,
I know this is a very well-read, well-informed group of parents so thought I’d ask if anyone had any resources re: the concerns/dangers of alcohol and other substances? These would be for teenagers to read. However, what I’ve found on the web is a little patronizing and/or non-pursuasive.

The target audience is a group of teens at varying levels – some are philosophy-reading intellects who (lately) seem intrigued by the alcohol/maybe subtance route, a la ‘Hunter Thompson’ substance-as-creative-facillitator. Others are just average teens who might be experimenting for the first time, and need some realistic pointers on how 1) it’s not the end of the world if you try a few beers but 2) it could go badly, badly wrong in so many different ways, now or in the future, even from moderate use (e.g. w/an inexperienced driver).

I’m thinking there have to be some either first-person essays out there or some other information that would refute the cultural glamorization of substances.

If anyone had a thought, that would be much appreciated! Hopefully it might help other parents, too…
