I’m taking Comparative Politics, Latin American History, the freshman seminar, etc. Will I be writing a lot of essays because of those courses?
I’m not afraid of writing, I’m just curious as to how most of my time doing course work will be spent.

The first two courses you mention sound like they’d be heavy on the essay-writing. Most freshman seminars involve little or no work (the CS one just involves being forced to actually do non-academic stuff around and off campus).

I’ve never taken a history or politics class here, so I can’t really say exactly how much time you’ll spend. I did take a psych class first semester and it involved writing only one major paper (which I wrote entirely over the long Thanksgiving weekend). I took an English class (Interp & Arg) second semester and it involves writing three major papers (by major I mean 4-8 pages). If you get started writing early, it’s not bad at all.
