Estimated Cost of Attendance

haha so I made an account here just to ask this question because I’m honestly extremely confused. Why is it that people who filed FAFSA have a higher Estimated Cost of Attendance than people who did not file it?

People who filed FAFSA have a estimated cost of $35k while people who did not file it have an estimated cost of $31k. The extra $4,000 for the people who filed FAFSA is in the Housing and Meals section. Will I actually be paying $35k, while they are only paying $31k?

No. There are set prices for specific dorms, meal plans, double vs. triple, etc., and it costs what it costs. I don’t know why you’d get different numbers. The only reason I can think of is that they might estimate on the high side since you don’t always have control over what dorm you’re assigned to or how many you share with. Just a guess, though.
