UVa’s fees are similar to many universities, except UVa charges more for the varsity sports programs than most other colleges. The fees include: student health, the counseling service, the bus system (you also get free rides on city buses I believe), the sports programs (you get free admission to sports events on grounds, vs. many other universities charge students for admission to football and basketball, etc), the Newcomb Hall student union building, the huge modern Aquatics Center and other gyms, intramural programs, student activities and clubs, etc.
The fees are actually much higher for out of state students, because they are supposed to pay a higher cost for capital costs, such as for Newcomb Hall, etc.
