Ethernet extension cord - Foster Shea

I am trying to see if it is possible to bring an extension cord for the Ethernet connection in the Foster Shea dorm.

IU tech said that they didn’t think it was possible because the short cord that is in the dorm room is “IU proprietary” and he didn’t know if it was possible to attach an extension cord.

Does anyone know anything about this, and if it is possible to purchase an extension cord - what type should it be? I have heard that the Wi-Fi wireless is slow at night when everyone is online trying to study.

Thanks.

Have you seen the length of the ethernet cable in Foster Shea? If it’s like the ones in Foster Harper and McNutt Bryan then they are really long and I doubt you would need an extension. I would suggest waiting…

The cord is much longer than you will need. The internet can get spotty at peak usage times, but switching to a wired connection isn’t going to help very much for that.

If its’ the same cord as before, the thing can go across the room and almost out into the hallway
