Anyone here ever set up an etsy store?

I know a few people who have stores on etsy and they seem to really like it. I’ve been contemplating setting up a store on there and trying to sell some photographs. This might sound dumb but does anyone know if that’s something you have to like set up as an official tax paying business or is it similar to selling some stuff on ebay? I could probably ask the people that I know but it’s weekend for me (woohoo) and I thought I might get a quicker response on here.

The above quote is from:

[Tax Tips: Everything You Need to Know About Sales Tax :: Etsy Blog](http://www.■■■■■■■■/storque/seller-handbook/tax-tips-everything-you-need-to-know-about-sales-tax-10963/)

Good luck with your shop!

Interesting timing on this question… as I type, a package from an Etsy vendor is on its way to my house from Havertown, PA (not too far from you). If you’d like, I could try to put you in touch with her to see if she’d be willing to exchange emails with you. She’s actually been working with me to make an item she did not have in her store, but one like it that wouldn’t work for me.

However, I’m on the road right now, and access to the internet is unpredictable until mid-week, next week.

igna - if you don’t have a store or a physical shop or an employee and are just possibly looking to list some photos, does that count as a nexus?

Truthfully I’m not sure. I’ve seen that question answered both “yes” and “no”. I know that’s no help.

I think that very safely, you could not worry about sales tax until you have at least a few sales on your belt.

If you have an obligation at the end of the year, you can write a check to the state.

I mean, I don’t even know if anyone would buy anything.
