Honestly… I don’t know. I don’t have any experience or major awards. I found out about the program the day the app was due, so all I did was write the essays and attach a copy of my resume. I have a feeling the essays (even if they were really short) were what they used to distinguish you from other applicants.

That’s what I thought, but someone told me that a lot of people move around during the summer, so there are generally a few places available. We’ll probably end up rooming with each other or something though…

Has anyone here received an actual email from a professor yet? I’m a bit distressed over the lack of correspondence in the last 2 weeks. It’s like a slow, cruel message saying that I didn’t make the cut this time.

I received an email a few days ago, I think on Tuesday! I’m so excited! Anybody looking to share a place?! The biggest problem about this will be finding housing…

I didn’t apply for the cure program because my summer isn’t long enough. I got an acceptance from the Professor and from Dr. Navarro herself. She said I’d get some mail with the letters and stuff this week! :)

I was part of the academy last year, so perhaps my comments are a bit more relevant for this year. The first round notifications were sent out on the 7th of April by snail mail (Mine apparently got delayed and I only found out I was shortlisted on the 21st). I don’t know if it’ll be different this year, but we should be finding out in the next week or two if we’ve passed the first round. After that, the first 50-60 or so kids who pair up with a supervisor get a spot.

Science fair competition researches must come from your own ideas. So i guess no. But if u ask one of many researchers to be your mentor for the fair and if they say yes, then u can.
