Which social group suffered the greatest decline in power as result of the plague? a. noble landholders, b. urban elites, c. peasants, d. clergy, e. artisans

I can see it being a because they had to give up power and land to the church (or something like that) or d because the decline in clergy made the church loose power. If I’m wrong about something, please let me know!

A. Noble Landholders

The plague killed off a LOT of peasants/serfs. B/c of this, landowners were short of workers. In response, they offered workers money in exchange for labor. It’s A because the second estate no longer had control over the third, because peasants could choose where they worked.

Thank you!

I have two more.
All the following are true of the Lollards EXCEPT that they:
a. preached in vernacular
b. disseminated translations of the Holy Scripture
c. came from every social class
d. could be put to death for their beliefs after 1401
e. believed that Christ was a man, not the son of God

I think it’s E, but I’m not 100% sure.

The basic argument of the conciliarists was that:
a. Church councils working with the pope were best suited to lead to the faithful
b. church councils guided and directed by a nonschismatic pope would be best
c. church legislation could only be decided thru a series of regionally sponsored councils
d. church councils, guided by the Holy Spirit, had greater authority than popes
e. the primitive church had been governed by church councils

I see it as a combo of C and D because they wanted to control what the pope did and elections (C), but they were seen as more powerful than the pope (D).

Look it up on the internet/wiki. You’ll get faster answers.

The answer to the first one is E, because that particular belief is Arianism (which was denounced in the second century AD), and the correct answer to the second is D (since councils were viewed as less divisive than Popes)
